Following the Nigeria-Mali match this Sunday, Nigeria player and coach from Mali answered our questions for Football Hearts. Interview.
Asisat Oshoala, best player of Nigeria-Mali match
"We are here to make Nigeria and Africa proud"
We started rather shyly. For the first 20 minutes we watched. It was a start. During the half-time in the locker room the coach gave us instructions. That's why as soon as we came back on the ground things changed and we produced what you saw. As for my performance, I would say it's a team effort. I did not come here thinking of being the best player or scorer. It is a team work. We are here to make Nigeria and Africa proud.
Oumar Guindo, Mali coach
"It's not easy to play against a team as experienced as Nigeria"
For our first match we came across a very strong team for us, very technical, very experienced. We have a very young team that starts their journey. We will approach our next match as it should. It is true that we came a little late too. The players held for 20-25 minutes. Acclimatization has also worked on both Nigerians and us. It is not easy to play against a team as experienced as Nigeria. It's not easy but it's football. I congratulate the opposing team who played a lot. It is a team that is fair play and I thank it. We had other games to play. We will tackle them as we approached this game. We are going to play our game. We will fight to cross the course of the first round.
