Asked on the sidelines of the group draw for the World Cup, Colombia captain Natalia Gaitan Laguado and Mexican international striker Veronica Perez responded to Women Soccer Lovers.
Veronica Perez (Mexico)
Opinion on the group: "The group is difficult but everything is possible. Colombia is a young team and technique with a style of possession. They have a lot of individual talents. England is a tough opponent. We played against them four years ago in Germany and drew 1-1. It's a fast, physical and dynamic team. France is a world class team. Many talents, experience and players who play in competitive teams all year round. They will most likely be a big opponent.
Ambitions in this competition: "We had a busy year in 2014. Qualification for the World Cup, for the Central American Games, internships in the national team. We want to write a story page and exit the group stage. Now that we know the group - as a team - we can really focus on our preparation. We want to come to Canada as the best team in Mexico set up for a major tournament. We have to get to work. "
Look since the last World Cup: "We are still a very young team. Most of us have some World Cup experience. Whether on youth teams or the senior team. We are more mature and know what it takes to prepare for the most important tournament of our sport. We have some new faces, but for the most part, we played together. I hope that in the coming months, we can consolidate this chemistry on the ground because when we find our pace, we can play a great football.
Natalia Gaitan Laguado (Captain of Colombia):
Opinion on the group: "I think it's a very difficult group, we have to play two very good European teams and against Mexico that we know very well. We played France at the last Olympic Games. We lost 1-0. For me, France is the team that plays the best football in the world. They have a unique technique and very good players. I know very little about England, but for sure it will be a good match and I know they have a good pace. Mexico, we have played several times and know their styles, it is a very aggressive and resistant team with a great evolution in the last years ".
Ambitions and look since the last World Cup: "Colombia wants to make a very good performance at this World Cup and improve what we did at the World Cup in Germany in 2011. I think now we have a group more mature with more experience and a better mentality. We have the team to go to the second round and I hope to go further »
