Prior to the Asian Cup semi-finals, the Philippines and South Korea were competing for fifth place in this continental tournament with in-game, the last ticket awarded to Asia for the 2019 World Cup, sides of Australia, China, Thailand and Japan.

It was South Korea who got this last qualifying spot after their 5-0 win against the Philippines. A big success after Philippine goalkeeper Kearra Bastes-Jones delayed the first-half deadline with several decisive saves on her line. In the 34th minute, the South Koreans find the opening by Jang Sel-gi who opens his right foot right at the entrance of the left side surface to find the small opposite net.

Just before the break Lee Mina added the second South Korean goal of a cross shot, served in the surface on a ball of Ji So-Yun over the defense (45 + 3). In the second half, the three new goals of South Korea are scored on set pieces. It is firstly Lim Seon-joo who manages to deviate close to the ball in the nets following a free-kick. Then captain Cho So-hyun scored twice, with a header on corner (66th) before scoring on penalty (83rd).

A logical South Korean victory in this match, and which allows to complete an Asian "delegation" for 2019 identical to that which represented the continent during the last World Cup in Canada. As for the Asian Cup, the competition continues tomorrow with the semi-finals, Australia-Thailand and China-Japan.
