The Algarve Cup will host, as so often, world-class selections for the 23rd edition of the tournament that takes place in southern Portugal, in the Algarve region, from 2 to 9 March.
This year the teams, eight in number, will be divided into two groups. Here is the composition of the two chickens:
Group A
Canada
Denmark
Iceland
Belgium
Group B
Brazil
New Zealand
Russia
Portugal
A tournament that could look like OJ because Brazil is already qualified for the Olympic tournament, but New Zealand, during this month of January, and Canada, during the month of February, can also guarantee a place at the Olympic Games taking place this summer in Brazil, in Rio de Janeiro.
The course of the competition in 2016 will be different compared to 2015, the winners of each group will compete in the final, while the second will compete for the 3rd place.
In 2015, the United States won the competition, beating France 2-0. The selection that was ranked highest in 2015, and will be present at this 2016 edition, is Denmark who finished in 6th place just ahead of Brazil.
A tournament 2016 with a different plateau but with a certain interest when we think that three selections, and perhaps opponents of France, may be at the Olympics.
