Group A: Colombia gets closer to the final round
New overwhelming victory for Colombia against Paraguay (5-1), which remains however provisional second. In a first balanced act, Colombia finds the fault at the end of the period thanks to a goal by Maria Catalina Usme. An opening score scored on a free-kick curled flush with the first post, the Paraguayan door can not push back (41). In the second half, the number 11 Colombian will allow his team to break with two new goals: a clever lob on the goalkeeper, then a strike uncrossed left. The player of Santa Fe, the top scorer of this 8th edition of the South American Cup, is illustrated again with this triplet and will thus increase its total to 8 achievements.
A second half-way for the Colombian women where Diana Ospina and Leicy Santos will weigh down the mark. Damia Cortaza will save the honor for Paraguay by reducing the score in injury time, on a free-kick quickly played three, that Cortaza takes again at the point of penalty.
With 7 points and another match to play, Colombia is in a good position to take one of the top two places in group A and qualify for the final round. Especially since Colombian women can rely on a difference in goals (+11) compared to its competitors.
The two teams that had not yet taken a point in this group A have split 1-1 and each gets their first point. Gretta Martínez opened the score at the end of the first period for the Peruvian, before Yamila Badell equalized in the second half for Uruguay. Despite a first point, this result does not settle any of the two teams who remain confined to the last two positions of Group A and no longer have the right to error to expect a qualifying place for the final round.
Group B: An avalanche of goals
A prolific day in Group B, during which 17 goals were scored in both games. Large victory for Venezuela against Bolivia (8-0) which allows them to take the second provisional place in front of Argentina. After Oriana Altuve's first goal was denied for offside, Venezuelans will open the scoring with Deyna Castellanos. The "star" player of the team of North America, author of the only goal of the first half, will once again shine by registering a quadruple in this meeting.
Barely more than five minutes into the game, Ysaura Viso is also going to stand out with a double in two minutes. Then she will score her third personal goal in the last minute of regulation time. In the meantime, Bolivia, who was already having a difficult match, will have to finish the game in numerical inferiority. A situation that will allow Venezuela to take a little more sea, as with this goal of Oriana Altuve who escapes left side and will score in a closed corner (74th).
Facing Ecuador, Argentina was quick to shake the nets Bolivian and detach in this meeting. With three goals in the first ten minutes, the victory was announced easy for the players of the Albiceleste. Estefania Banini opened the scoring in the second minute with a nice shot from the edge of the area. Then, Mariana Larroquette concludes after a new strike from Banini, initially rejected by the goalkeeper. Linda Bravo then added the goal of 3-0. Totally dominated, Ecuador will succeed in reviving, thanks to an offensive efficiency. On their first occasions, Ecuadorian women manage each time to score and return to 3-2. A first against concluded by Ericka Vásquez (20th) then Ingrid Rodríguez penalty (37th).
But while we thought the match relaunched, Argentina will recover just before the break with two new goals from Soledad Jaimes (41) and María Florencia Bonsegundo (45) on penalty. The latter will then score the sixth and last Argentine goal in the second period. Meanwhile, Suany Fajardo had once again reduced the gap for Ecuador, but that will not be enough for private albiceleste training of victory.
