This Monday was the announcement of the three finalists for the titles of best player of the year and FIFA coach of the year. Here are the three finalists in each category.
In this announcement, made among other things by the 2014 world player of the year, Nadine Kessler, the nominees for the title of FIFA World Player have been given. Carli Lloyd, Japan's Aya Miyama, and European player of the year, Célia Sasic. Note the absence of French players, including Amandine Henry, yet sacred silver ball at the 2015 World Cup in Canada.
The Houston player, grandissime favorite, has achieved an excellent World Cup, including a hat-trick in the final that allowed the United States to be crowned. All this had allowed him to finish better player and top scorer of this World. The only one who could block her is Germany's Célia Sasic, crowned European champion with Frankfurt, who also finished top scorer at the World Cup with her country that finished fourth in the competition. Miyama is rewarded for her consistency, she who guided the Nippones in the final of the World Cup. She had finished bronze ball of the last World Cup. The silver ball, Amandine Henry, has probably paid for his elimination in the round of 16 of the UEFA Women's Champions League with OL, as well as the defeat in the quarter-finals of the World Cup with France.
The three best coaching finalists have also been announced. Not surprisingly, the three coaches of the teams on the podium of the World Cup are nominated: Jill Ellis (USA), Norio Sasaki (Japan) and Mark Sampson (England). The first is logically present to have managed to lead the Americans again to the world title and is the favorite to win the bet. Sasaki is, like Miyama, rewarded for his regularity and for guiding Japan in the final while Sampson sees his historic course with England be valued, with a third place won against Germany.
This year, no player present in the nominees for the prize Puskas as Stephanie Roche last season. It should be noted that, as in recent years, the representation of the media in the balloting of women's distinctions is much lower than that for men (80.92% vs. 88.60%). The gap has narrowed, however. The awards will be presented on January 11, 2016 at the Congress Center Zurich.
