The sixth World Women's Futsal Tournament started tonight in Guatemala. A tournament consisting of eight teams that form two groups of four. The top two in each group qualify and compete in the semifinals in a first-on-second system. This futsal tournament is still not under the auspices of FIFA as are the others, such as men's futsal, women's and men's football.

This does not preclude having a high level competition that is dominated by Brazil. In five contested tournaments, Brazil has won all five (2010-2015)! Behind is Portugal with three silver and one bronze, followed by Spain, which won two silver and two bronze, and finally Russia is the last country to win a medal, the bronze in 2013.

After passing through Spain, Brazil, Portugal and Costa Rica, the world tournament has settled in Guatemala. All matches will be played at the "Domo Polideportivo" gymnasium of the CDAG, which has a capacity of 7,500 places.

Brazil, a favorite

On this 2015 edition, the deal has not changed too much. Brazil is a favorite to win a sixth world title. The tone has, in any case, been given on the first day.

Brazil, who are in Group A, beat Costa Rica 9-0! This is the card of this first day. In the other match of this group, Portugal managed to defeat Iran 3-1.

In Group B, the debates were more balanced. The Spanish squad was surprised by Russia, 3-1, and started this tournament badly. As for the host country, Guatemala, he managed his entry with a 2-1 victory over Japan. It is also on this result that Guatemala had won against Japan in 2014 in the fifth place award match.

The competition will run at a high pace, as of tonight we will have the second day. Portugal vs Costa Rica and Brazil vs Iran in Group A, and Japan vs Spain and Guatemala vs Russia in Group B.
