As announced a few days ago, the France B team of Jeff Niemezcki will participate this year in the Turkish Women's Cup. This international competition, created last year under the name Gold City Women's Cup and held in Turkey in Alanya, will run from February 28 to March 6.
Initially, twelve teams were to compete in this international tournament, finally they will be only ten. Kosovo, present in Group B, was to send Team B to Group C to replace Turkey, as the host country of the competition does not match any selection. This team B of Kosovo will not participate in the tournament as well as Nigeria, initially planned as opponent of the Blue. The African players have forfeited this competition due to "logistical problems", it would include visa difficulties, while Nigeria was playing in recent days another tournament in Côte d'Ivoire, the Cup of Nations. 'UAFO (Union of West African Football Federations) which brings together teams from the region (the tournament was won by Ghana), composed exclusively of players playing in the African championships.
A necessary reorganization
These last-minute packages led the tournament organizers to review the format of the competition, as groups B and C were reduced to three teams instead of four. On the sidelines of the competition and the already scheduled group matches, three friendly matches will be scheduled. These friendlies will be in fact a confrontation between the team of each of the two groups who no longer has an opponent that day.
For example, in Group B, France had to face Nigeria on 4 March. The match being canceled, the Tricolores will meet Romania in the form of a friendly match (not taken into account for the final classification). Romania, a Group C team, was facing Team B of Kosovo that day.
Poland puts title back into play
Of the ten teams still involved, only Group A remains unchanged with its four initial teams. A group where we find the winner of last year, Poland. The Poles will face Mexico, Latvia and Jordan, which will host the Asian Nations Cup in April. A group with a team from Poland today in progress with players now present in the German, French or Italian championships, even if Ewa Pajor, the attacker from Wolfsburg will be absent in Turkey following an injury. Mexico and Jordan each have a real chance on their respective continent to qualify for the next World Cup in France.
The France B team will start by facing Kosovo, present in the first edition and who finished in the last position. Then, the Blue will play against Kazakhstan, before meeting Romania as a friendly match. All ranking matches will then take place on Tuesday, March 6th.
