This night is the semifinal of the world tournament of women's futsal, which is held in Guatemala. Brazil, defending champion, faces Spain, while Portugal will play against Russia.
Portugal-Russia
The Portuguese (pictured above) have been three times vice-world champions, this year the goal is clear, win the tournament. However before going to play the final, it will be necessary to get rid of Russia. The Russians finished first in Group B with two wins (3-1 against Spain and 2-0 against Japan) and a draw (0-0 against Guatemala). Serious matches, important victories but never with a big goal difference. We will therefore expect a close match and rather closed defensively on the side of the Russians.
As for Portugal, the Lusitanian selection has ambitions and has demonstrated in the group A games. The Portuguese were second in their group because of a better goal difference for Brazil. However, Portugal was not free, 3-1 against Iran and 7-1 against Costa Rica, before a draw, 1-1, against the favorites, the Brazilian.
In an interview with Coeurs de Foot, Melissa Antunes (photo in one), Portugal's No. 10, confided her goals: "The goal of the Portuguese selection is to win the world tournament. This year we want to bring back the title. My personal goals are to help the Portuguese team win all their matches, that's all. "
Brazil-Spain
The Brazilian women (pictured above) want to win a sixth consecutive title, but before they will face a Spanish selection sawtooth. Spain started the tournament badly, with a 3-1 defeat to Russia, but finished well with two wins, 5-2 against Japan and 10-0 against Guatemala. The latest results may suggest that the Spanish will be able to pose some difficulties to the Brazilian selection.
Brazil will go big favorite for this semi-final but will have to be wary of Spain because after the three matches of the group stage, both the Brazilian and the Spanish have the best attack with 16 goals scored! On his way Brazil has been less scary. Two easy victories, 9-0 against Costa Rica and 6-0 against Iran, then a complicated draw against the Portuguese, 1-1, knowing that Portugal opened the scoring in the last minute and that the brazilians were able to return to the score in stride. Brazil will have to remain attentive until the end of the 40 minutes of play.
Costa Rica, 5th, Iran, 7th
Costa Rica managed last night to snatch fifth place in the world tournament against Guatemala on the score of 2-1. The host country finishes in sixth place.
In the other match, Iran beat Japan 2-1 and finished seventh, while Japan finished eighth and last in the world tournament.
