French U19 Champion 2015, Olympique Lyonnais will try to retain their title in a new formula of the championship. It will now take place in two phases, and two national U19 divisions will be formed as of January 17 to homogenize the levels. Explanations.
Exit the challenge U19 three groups, from September to May, the first three clashed in the final phase, now the season will be divided into two distinct parts.
This two-phase formula therefore takes effect for this 2015-2016 season, with a first phase that can be described as "brewing" and a second phase plus "competition" that will depend on the results of the first part of the championship.
The first phase took place from September to December, with six groups of five teams (chosen geographically as in D2, ed). The first two start in an elite U19nat championship in January, the last three in U19nat excellence.
During this second phase, two championships coexist in U19nat. The first called "elite" hosts two groups of six teams, the second "excellence" is formed in three groups of six teams.
The first of the two elite hens will meet in the final on June 5th, the semi-finals will be played in the groups of excellence for a final on the same date.
The aim of this reform is to oppose teams at the closest levels and thus avoid too heterogeneous championships and river scores. With this change, the championships should be more balanced and should allow the players to get tough against players and clubs of more equivalent level.
The second phase of the championship will start on January 17 for the two championships and will end on June 5 by the finals.
