This Friday, May 19 at 21h will take place the long-awaited final of the Coupe de France between the defending champion OL and PSG. A meeting that will mark there, the third face to face between the two teams this season. On the one hand that of Gérard Prêcheur who wants to lead the Lyonnaises in his third final in a row. From the other Patrice Lair who will try on his side to glean this title with the Parisiennes. A trophy he has already won five times (twice with the MHSC and three times with OL). A duel between players but also between coach, in short. The last word will be on the field at the Stade de la Rabine in Vannes, where we probably expect 9,500 spectators.
One everywhere! Ball in the center
In the grip of OL and MHSC for the past two seasons, Paris has managed to play well this season and today the opportunity for the fourth time to raise its second trophy (the first was against Montpellier in 2010). However OL will not let his ninth title slip from his record as easily. However, the Lyonnaises themselves have said that achieving a consecutive triple would be complicated, since they are more and more expected, but it does not detract from their thirst for trophies.
The Paris exploit last December marked a real awareness in D1 Feminine. The opportunity to beat the OL. But the return match for the 21st day of D1 at OL Park was quite different. And it has already made it possible to get an idea of the two teams before these two next deadlines in the final. Paris has been stifled by the Lyon ogre, who has imposed a play sharp and precise. Paris had no common thread and did not manage the pressure. A point that had been managed in December. On a neutral ground, will the scenario be repeated? Will Lyon confirm its demonstration last weekend? Or did Paris let slip this match to better surprise in this final? It is rather difficult to appreciate, as the stakes are high. The right to the error for one or the other team must not exist to catch this title at present.
Can Paris turn the tide?
We feel that turning the tide, it knows the Paris Saint-Germain this season. A team in transition and under construction who started the first part of the championship under the best auspices by conceding zero goals (in D1). Even better by winning the victory against Olympique Lyonnais at Camp des Loges, 1-0 on a dazzling achievement of Marie-Laure Delie. A feat that had allowed Parisiennes to spend their end of the year in good conditions. But after returning from vacation, PSG blows the score of three and four points removed because of the game sheet of the first game against Albi. A player had returned to the field, as a substitute, but she had not been registered on the tablet. A bug according to the Parisian club.
This story then totally broke the Parisian dynamic, which tried as best it could to look good. The defeat against Montpellier and the loss in the first leg against Bayern were the first alarming elements. However, this last episode allowed the players of Patrice Lair to realize their best performance at the Parc des Princes against the Bavarians during the return match (4-0). These are the moments that will make all the difference and that will push the Parisian to question, to excel and to have this spirit of winning every hard blow.
What also characterizes the team of the PSG is its tactical approach on the ground, by evolving players of experiences like Delannoy, Cruz, Delie or Cristiane, with young people of the formation, such as Perle Morroni, or Grace Geyoro (and Marie-Antoinette Katoto at the beginning of the season in particular). The arrival of new players like Vero Boquete, Irene Paredes, Eve Perisset or even Ashley Lawrence brought a new deal to Paris.
An alchemy that is hard to take the mayonnaise, with a game that sometimes lacks fluidity. But the entry into play of talented young people, moreover, also marks this desire to project itself on the future. On the eve of their second round against the Lyonnaises, their fourth final, the Parisiennes will have to take a step back and set the common goal to seek victory, with solidarity as affirmed Shirley Cruz.
Will Lyon support its supremacy?
With eight titles accumulated in fifteen years of editions, Lyon flies over the Coupe de France. A supremacy that has taken its genesis with FC Lyon in 2003, but it is especially since the 2011-2012 season, that we felt the real turning point in the history of the club and which has also won all that same year.
A well-oiled machine that will have trouble being reversed as the experience is present, to name only Camille Abily, Eugenie Le Sommer, Wendie Renard or Elodie Thomis. So many players who do not seem to know the pressure.
It is very difficult to raise the weak points of the armada of Lyon, which has however experienced some disappointment this season. As we have mentioned, this defeat against Paris, which was washed at Parc OL in last week's return match (3-0). Both teams are therefore at one victory each. But defeats in the Champions League against Wolfsburg (0-1) and Manchester City (0-1) at home, have somewhat eroded this image invincible team.
In D1 also, the goal of Vivianne Asseyi for OM in October had already marked a certain excitement, which hinted at a breach in the Lyon formation. But it is also these situations that may have been given even more grain to grind the ogre Lyon. More so when you know the history of the club, which had lost four Coupe de France in its debut (the first against Toulouse 2-1, then against Juvisy on penalties, and Montpellier twice on penalties also).
What's more unlike the PSG, Lyon focuses primarily on the experience, little on these young players. Private in particular of their asset size in the person of Delphine Cascarino. A fact to take into account in the physiognomy of the matches and the season of the two clubs, which stand out at this point.
In another fact, if the two teams were to leave on a draw, you should know that the shots on goal had not really succeeded in Olympique Lyonnais, in the Coupe de France, since the club had yielded the trophy three times in this scenario. The Lyonnaises will therefore want to ensure the victory, probably, very quickly, as we have seen last Saturday. Everything has to be done.
