On Juvisy's lawn, Paris had to wait for the shoot-offs to qualify. A quarter-finals Cup of France hung where Paris was often abused by a team of the Juv 'without complex and who held the dragée high at the club of the capital.
For this match of the Coupe de France, Paris was back on the lawn Bondoufle two weeks after the league match between the two teams. A match played and won 2-1 by Paris but once again has come to remind that Juvisy is not in its place at the seventh position in the D1.
The return of the internationals
Disappointing results and a Cup match that was an opportunity to upset the hierarchy. The other element against the backdrop of this meeting is the weight of the internationals, as many players took part in the various international tournaments held in early March (She Believes, Algarve, Istria Cup) and therefore a physical freshness that can to make the difference in this kind of matches.
As such, the PSG had a lack of mark for this game in the person of Veronica Boquete, slightly injured during the Algarve Cup and who followed this match from the stands of Robert-Bobin Stadium. Among the absentees also, one of the two Parisian goal-holders against Juvisy at the end of February, Marie-Antoinette Katoto who should be unavailable until the end of the season on the Paris side.
On the field, the Parisian formation is presented in 4-3-3 but evolves quickly to a 3-5-2 with the association Georges-Delannoy-Paredes in defense while Ashley Lawrence evolves right side and Eve Perisset left side. In midfield, Formiga has taken the place of Amandine Henry remained in the United States to join his Portland Thorns team currently in preparation for the upcoming NWSL season.
The first interesting situations are to the advantage of Paris with a very active Cristiane who quickly manages to make differences ball with the foot. From the third minute, she manages to slip the ball to Ashley Lawrence, launched right side and then manages to center within six meters. It takes a tackle from Aïssatou Tounkara to get this ball out of a corner and prevent Marie-Laure Delie from opening the scoring.
Juvisy, the ignition delay
Marie-Laure Delie, we find her a few moments later. Served in the depth on the right by Grace Geyoro, she finally loses her duel against Céline Deville, who deviates her attempt to corner (7th). A short respite since on the corner, Cristiane finds the head of Marie-Laure Delie opening the score for the PSG (8th) enjoying a chance out of Céline Deville.
This goal comes to cold pick Juvisy, who may not have completely returned to the game in the first ten minutes. But the players Emmanuel Beauchet then manage to raise the tone. It is first Théa Greboval who steals the ball in the feet of Ashley Lawrence before placing a shot caught in two stages by Katarzyna Kiedrzynek (10th). A few minutes later, the players of Juvisy find themselves several times in the position of striking after a corner but attempts are systematically blocked, before Clara Matéo does not see his shot captured by the keeper of the PSG (15th).
Balanced debates in the first period, although Juvisy seems to be gradually taking the lead in this meeting. In the 28th minute, Kadidiatou Diani found Camille Catala at the far post on a center right side. His head fails on the left post of the Paris goal and the international tricolor does not believe his eyes. Juvisy who gets closer and Paris who commits a lot of foul late in the first period. A fight in the middle of the field and the Parisian players in trouble on the accelerations of the opponents, and therefore who make small mistakes that slow down the offensives of the players of Essonne.
Juvisy mistreated Paris
The first half ends and we see Paris leading but seems already cling to this result. An impression confirmed in the second half, where Paris often proceeds against to try to get closer to the goal of Céline Deville. It is also on a situation of this type that Paris gets its only real opportunity of the second period.
A quick attack and Ashley Lawrence is found in the right-sided depth. She then manages to center Cristiane at the edge of the offside and places a header in the six meters coming to fail on the crossbar (64th). An action that could have been a blow to Juvisy, who was at the baton of the meeting in the second half.
A few minutes later, it was Kadidatou Diani to place his head, this time in the Paris area, a balloon caught by Kiedrzynek (68th). Without being the most dangerous, this action shows a certain ease for Juvisy to get closer to the goal of Paris and manage to combine in the opposing defense.
At the start of the last quarter of an hour, Paris is on the back but manages to preserve the essential. But in the 76th minute, Gaëtane Thiney is found in the back of the defense and stands in front of goal. On a timely exit, Kiedrzynek manages to divert the ball for a corner but also remains down after the shock with the captain of Juvisy. Left on the ground, she will have to leave the field shortly afterwards replaced by Loes Geurts. A moment of hesitation and several changes are made with the entrances of Geurts and Diallo Parisian side and that of Estelle Cascarino Juvisy side.
Estelle Cascarino, a smashing entry
The game then resumes on the corner given to Juvisy. On the center of Gaëtane Thiney, Loes Geurts pushes the ball in hand but returns to the entrance of the 16 meters to Estelle Cascarino. She then places a superb recovery volley that lodge under the cross of Loes Geurts for the equalization of the Juv '(80th). This goal, and the minutes that follow, give the impression that Juvisy can pull the qualification without going through the shoot-out. The pressure remains on the Paris goal but Clara Matéo (86th) and Kadidiatou Diani (89th) fail to hang the frame.
An end of the match where Gaëtane Thiney appears alone against Loes Geurts again with a shock that leaves the Parisian goalkeeper on the ground. A beginning of scenario disaster, with a possible penalty but especially the risk of seeing Paris finish the game without goalkeeper. A situation that will finally end for the better for the Dutch goalkeeper who will be able to go to the end of the meeting and therefore for the shoot-off session.
A shot-at-goal session that opens at the end of the 90 minutes and which last year was lost by Paris in the half-final of the Coupe de France against Montpellier. For this time, Juvisy starts with Gaëtane Thiney and Camille Catala who scores. For PSG, Irene Paredes starts with a successful shot, but Natasa Andonova misses his and Céline Deville can grab it on his right.
The good side of Loes Geurts
An advantage for Juvisy who shoots three times to the left of Loes Geurts without the Dutch goalkeeper changing sides on his dives. In the fourth shot-at-goal, Léa Declercq made the choice to shoot right and Loes Geurts to make a decisive parry. The shooters are chained and each time Juvisy shoots to the right, the ball goes to the bottom. For Paris, no one misses the target. The sixth to appear before the Parisian goalkeeper is Kadidiatou Diani. Like Lea Declercq, she chooses to shoot on the right of Loes Geurts and she can again intervene.
On the Paris side, the nets continued to tremble until the end with a final shot-on-goal scored by captain Shirley Cruz who seals the qualification of Paris Sain-Germain, with this score of six to five (6-5 ) in this shoot-off session. Paris continues on its way and finally avoids the trap in quarter-finals that have booked some nice surprises. The team of Patrice Lair managed to validate his qualification despite a meeting where the Parisiennes were pushed in their retrenchment. The kind of scenario that could happen next week, during the trip of the PSG on the lawn of Olympique Marseille.
