This weekend was the 16th round of the Coupe de France. If the big have held their rank, Bordeaux has reissued his feat of the previous round against La Roche, so Vendenheim and Rennes Bréquigny passed to general surprise.
In this Coupe de France, no surprise for the big leagues. Juvisy opened the march Saturday against Hénin (5-0), before Lyon atomized Châtenoy the Royal (0-11). Paris has disposed of Lorient in his lair of Charléty (6-0) while the Montpellier did not tremble in the match against South Toulouse (1-5). For the other clubs of D1, the deal is not the same for everyone. If Rodez (0-6), Guingamp (0-1), Saint-Maur (0-4) and Nîmes (0-3) have passed the obstacle against clubs evolving one or two divisions lower, it is not is not the case for other teams.
Bordeaux at the finish, Saint-Étienne falls in Alsace
On the road to Bordeaux, La Roche fell in the same trap as Soyaux in the previous round. At the end of a game played, Bordeaux broke their qualification with two goals in the last five minutes of the match (2-1) while they were 0-1. Vendenheim also waited to bring down the Stéphanoises. With a goal scored in the last ten minutes, the Alsatians managed to get the resident of D1 to the surprise (1-0).
Metz at the end of suspense, Rouen did not hold
The D2 poster between Yzeure and Metz has kept all its promises. While Yzeure had taken the advantage in the 89th, the Messines came out of nowhere by equalizing on penalty in the 94th minute before winning the game on penalties (2-2, 4-3 t.a.b). All the D2 however did not have the same luck. Rouen had to bow to Rennes Bréquigny (3-2), the latter remaining with Orvault, winner against Bergerac (2-2, 4-3 t.a.b), the last two residents of DH.
In the 8th finals of the Coupe de France, eight teams of D1, six of D2 and two of DH will be at the rendezvous to continue the adventure. The draw will take place on Tuesday 2 February at the FFF headquarters. If all the participants hope for a good draw, beware of the possible surprised as in the 16th, Bordeaux showing itself as a scarecrow for D1 clubs.
