This weekend will be the 14th day of D1 Feminine. Between key matches, Europe and maintenance, here are all the different issues of the six upcoming matches.
Europe and the title in sight
If six games will be played this weekend, one will occupy particular attention. In the title race and Europe, Montpellier receives Paris Saint-Germain. Two teams neck and neck behind OL, separated by only one point, who will probably play part of their season this Sunday. The Montpellier, still undefeated this season, had shown some signs of slowing before the truce, winning on the smallest margin against Nimes (1-0) and Guingamp (2-1). Opposite, the PSG had also shown a less domineering face, winning against Rodez (1-0) and Soyaux (3-0). The Coupe de France, however, put the two clubs back in shape last week. It remains to be seen if the long-awaited shock will keep all its promises, especially since it will be necessary to win, the defeated club can probably say goodbye to Europe.
On the sidelines of this shock, the leader, Olympique Lyonnais, will receive Guingamp. An opportunity for the Lyonnaises to sow a pursuer in the title race, or even both in case of a draw. This was the case in the first leg, when the MHSC and PSG were neutralized (0-0). Despite the desire to start internally some players, Lyon seems all the more favorite that Guingamp keeps losing lately. Over the last five days, the Bretons have conceded so many setbacks, remaining first non-relegated to the standings. On the way, the Rhodaniennes had not been tender on the lawn of Guingampaises (0-8). The latter will hope for a less severe disappointment Sunday, while relying on missteps from its direct competitors.
The struggle for support is in full swing
If the fight at the top of the rankings will be a turning point, the bottom of the table too. First, the VGA Saint-Maur and Nimes, both present in the red zone, will compete in a duel of the last chance. Both in hard, the first having suffered an internal crisis and the other a lack of results, the two clubs have however shown a better face in recent weeks. The VGA has recovered from defeats against La Roche (1-4) and Albi (1-3), with a convincing success in the Coupe de France against Nancy (3-0). Nîmes showed him a good resistance against Soyaux (0-0) and Montpellier (0-1), before leaving OM in CDF. A duel that will be decisive, as a defeat will probably be synonymous with D2 for the team concerned.
In front, La Roche will move to Rodez in the advanced game of the 14th day. A meeting here again important for both clubs who want to give the air. The Vendeennes are looking forward to a success in the Aveyron, while hoping for a backhand Guingamp, out of this red zone. Rodez will want to hang him in fifth place. Same goal for Soyaux and Saint-Etienne, who also clash. However, suspicion in this meeting, the two clubs have not shown the best of their form last week in CDF. The Amazons had qualified little against ES Sixteenth, resident of DH (1-0), while Soyaux had been surprised and eliminated by Bordeaux (1-1, t.a.b 5-4). Finally, Albi will move to the side of Juvisy, with the aim of getting closer to the club Essonne while moving away from the red.
J14 in a few figures:
22 - As the number of goals scored by the top scorer in the championship, Ada Hegerberg. Nobody had scored so much after 13 games since ... Marinette Pichon, author of 23 goals before the 14th day of the 2005-2006 season.
3 - As the number of points separating Lyon, leader, of Paris, third of the championship. This is the smallest gap on the D1 podium since the 2006-2007 season. OL was then leader with 47 points, followed by Montpellier (46 pts) and Juvisy (44 pts).
2 - As the number of goals conceded by OL and the MHSC after 13 days. To find a better brand at this stage of a D1 season, we must go back to 2009-2010. The PSG, leader, conceded only one goal, against the OL (1-1). If for Lyon, we can find an equivalent after 13 days, with two goals conceded also in 2007-2008, for Montpellier, it is a record in D1.
