After the draw in the last seconds on the lawn of Soyaux, we joined David Fanzel to have his first impressions on this match with the first goal and the first point of the season for FC Metz.
David Fanzel - [Back in scoring in the 92nd] It's even more beautiful, it means that the girls have not let go. But it's only a step towards maintaining. All the teams have already sentenced us, they know me badly. They know very little about FC Metz, the values of FC Metz and the players.
Today it has been proved that FC Metz still exists. But (...) I especially remember the joy after the game, this first point, it means they are happy, they know they come back from a distance on the match, especially on the first half. We come back from a long way. They knew how to hurt themselves to get this equalization which is deserved.
Soccer Hearts - What is your look on the first half where your team did not really look in the game?
D.F - We were completely amorphous. I had played a bit in the same system as against Lyon but in a little more offensive by putting the speed on the sides to just continue to secure because when we are last, it is important to be well in the head and not to take goals, that the opponent does not create opportunities. And it was the opposite that was done. We were soft, no pace, we did not win a single duel (...) And then at half-time, I went back to 4-4-2 with pressing and I said: "Anyway, leave to lose, as much to do without regrets ".
CDF - Somewhere too, Soyaux's lack of success in the first half kept you in the game ...
D.F - Yes, that's what I told them at half-time. We still have this chance to be only 1-0 at half-time, which allowed us to stay in the game and still have our chances to score the first goal that has finally come.
CDF - In the second period, we also felt your players more snarling, more contacts, do not be afraid to make mistakes. It's something that was discussed at half-time?
D.F - Yes, there was a small winding of suspenders precisely in relation to that. And in football (...) when you do not win duels, you have little chance of winning the matches so here ... It's true that in the second half, we won the duels, we were more close and that's the side I think that rocked the game and girls Soyaux did not expect perhaps such aggression.
CDF - On this match, you made the choice to start Léa Khelifi on the bench. A different choice of what you have been able to do so far. His entry was good for your team late in the game ...
D.F - She is 17, she is in a difficult period (...) She was sick a fortnight ago. After as I told you, I really wanted some speed on the sides with [Elodie] Martins and [Danielle] Rotheram. Exactly, I knew it was a team that was in their backs, we did not do it ... But after, I knew in the last twenty-five minutes that it was a player who could us bring this little extra to get this draw.
CDF - It was felt that with his entry, the whole team has gone up a notch technically. I think in particular to Meryll Wenger that we felt better on the end of the match ...
D.F - The strength of Khelifi, it allows the team to keep the ball and go out. It is true that after Meryll Wenger has good feelings, she likes to play with Khelifi. After that it's my role to do it too and the role of the girls to get back with that state of mind that had today. (...) When we look at football matches, it is often the substitutes who can make the difference. And there the substitutes have done what it took to bring this extra soul and get this draw.
CDF - What was your return with the players in the locker room at the end of the match?
D.F - I congratulated them for equalizing in the 92nd minute and congratulating them on the reaction they had. And above all it was to tell them, we drew. That's it, we are released (...). It must be a click to get support because we believe everyone. And now, I told them, this is the beginning of a great adventure that awaits us.
