Since arriving in the summer of 2016, Irene Paredes has become indispensable at the heart of the Parisian defense. Left at rest last weekend against Bordeaux, she approached with great envy this shock against Lyon, Monday at Parc OL. An "impatience" she told us this afternoon before the training of Parisian players.
"I'm good, the group too. It is an important week and we are very impatient. (...) For us, there is no pressure, I would rather speak of impatience and this awareness that we are in a week of importance. (...) Lyon is the most anticipated match of the season, the [match] schedule is also an hour at which important games are played, [and] playing OL Park gives it even more important. We are expecting a tough match, a good match in which we will have to fight a lot. "
The defeats in the finals of the Champions League and the Coupe de France, you always have in mind?
"These are things that are not forgotten. Two very difficult defeats, but all games against Lyon are important games and we do not take this one as a revenge but as the possibility of hurting them and succeed in beating them. "
Win in Lyon, do you believe it?
"Everything is possible, and we are ready for it. Every day, we train for this, to be the best team in France, and to achieve this it means winning all direct confrontations with each team [D1]. "
And a draw, you would be like result?
"No (laughs), we'll see, but we'll give everything we can [in the field] and we'll see what happens"
You play in defense, but you score regularly on set pieces. Jennifer Hermoso hits them regularly in club and selection with Spain where you also play. Does it help you to find the net?
"Yes, it always helps because I know her before [arrival in Paris]. Afterwards I also scored goals on Shishi [Shirley Cruz], Vero [Boquete] and other [my teammates] balloons. But it's true that it helps to know someone from before to have this little connection »
(...)
"I do not know if it will be necessary [to score on a set kick] but it is sure that it can help and that it is actions that can decant the score one way or the other. We will have to be very focused because it will be one possibility among others to be able to score. "
The two points behind the standings make this match could be decisive for the title. Are these things that you think about when preparing for this trip to Lyon?
"They are always in our heads, because that's the reality. This is the standings, but we are trying to get into every game by focusing on this game we have to play in the week. It's an important match because it's a direct confrontation [for the title] but we're not going to put more things in our heads than what's needed "
