During the first day, Saint-Etienne, one of the teams that nobody expected, gave a draw against Juvisy thanks to the double of one of the summer recruits: Julie Peruzzetto. With great realism, she agreed to answer our questions before the meeting this weekend against Rodez.
Last year you moved to Albi, how do you explain your coming to Saint Etienne?
Following the end of the season with Albi, I had several opportunities, but I said yes to Saint Etienne because the sports project, which was presented to me by the coach Hervé Didier and the president Michel Saez, ' totally seduced. Today, I am very proud to be part of the Saint-Etienne group!
We have a collective strength, we rely on each other and that is what allows us to perform. ASSE is a team of character who has ambition, which does not leave anything on the ground. For the 2015-2016 season, we really want to make a good run and do better than last year.
What are the goals of your team this season?
There have been a lot of movements in both directions, so the arrivals will allow to give a new momentum, a new dynamic to the club. The primary ambition is first and foremost to ensure our retention in female D1 as quickly as possible. Once this objective is validated, it will be necessary to gratify points on the teams of the top of the table.
From your point of view, what are your strengths?
We approach the matches in order to win, for the weekend against Rodez, we will first work with the video to erase our small mistakes. As always, we will put a lot of seriousness, a lot of rigor to put all the chances on our side to come back with a victory.
During the first day, you won a draw against Juvisy, what look do you have on this meeting?
It was not easy, Juvisy is a team that has good qualities, some international, very good players. The match was difficult, we were dominated from the first minutes, which logically led the opening score, but we continued to play with our weapons: our qualities, our values. As soon as we could put them in trouble on the counterattacks, we did not hesitate! We were successful and that's what allowed us twice to return to the score and finally to pull the draw.
Faced with the 3rd of last season, is it a good way to start the championship?
It's a good thing to start a new season. We are a group of competitors, so we would like to win every game, but we remain lucid: the matches against the teams fighting for the podium will be difficult. It's up to us to play on our strengths, to offer a nice show to the public, especially since during the match against Juvisy, there were many in the stands.
The disparities between professional and amateur staff are more and more pointed out, what is your opinion?
There is a gap with teams that have had professional status for several seasons and those that are structured, particularly in terms of athleticism and recovery.
There is still a craze around women's football, the presidents of clubs invest. As in Lille or Bordeaux, more and more major male clubs have a women's section. Thanks to all this, the gap will gradually diminish and finally disappear. For the moment, Olympique Lyonnais, Paris Saint-Germain or Montpellier enjoy better conditions and infrastructures than teams like ASSE or Rodez.
