A true leader within the Essonian workforce, Julie Soyer has made her place in Juvisy by her serious and hard work, to constantly improve. Two days before their first league game we went to meet him, to learn a little more about the 2016/2017 season team.
Juvisy continues to strengthen from year to year as to regain its glory of yesteryear, how is this season for you?
We made a cover early August, with a good preparation, with an internship that was very interesting too. We have also made new recruits, young people who are even better in the future, who are slowly becoming part of the group. We also recruited Marina and Lea, who came to complete the workforce so the mayonnaise takes little by little. It's going pretty well, we start this weekend so we'll see how it goes, but I think it's going to be a good season.
What has Juvisy missed last season to be higher in the standings?
Quite simply, we did not catch the results we hoped for against the big teams. Because I think that to claim to be even better, you have to perform well against the Top 4 teams. It's not always what we managed to do and then we also made a few mistakes in the course of the season that cost us dearly in the end. An accumulation of small things, small details and that in the end in a season that is quite tight, it takes all its importance.
How do you face the games against the promoted this season, prominent size, who have serious arguments?
I find it very well already that there are teams like that who have arrived in the championship. These are names that are good for women's football and then they are teams that are well structured and strengthened too. It will be tricky games like all games this season, it does not exist any more easy matches. So suddenly it's interesting matches on every day, so I think it's pretty good.
It seems that the team is more complete this season on the side of Juvisy - compared to the symbiosis between young people and executives - what can you tell us about it?
It is true that there is a good mix between girls who have been there for a long time in Juvisy, girls who are older, who have been there for a shorter time but who bring their experience and little news that bring the freshness and arrive with a lot of desire so it's a good mix. I think everyone feels good in this group, after the most important is to show on the ground. As you say, there is a good symbiosis, and as we go we will express ourselves and that it will give us good results.
The notion of group is very important to Juvisy, we could be individualities like other clubs but who are at the service of the collective. We are a group, there is no personality that comes out, it's really the team, that's our strength and today we always get to be at the top of the rankings.
What are your goals with Juvisy?
Finish the best possible, and if possible in the top 2, because today the championship of France is interesting but especially very interesting when you finish in the first two places, because it is synonymous with European qualification. We have a bit of a lot of teeth, because to be effective, you also need goals. We will have to get what we want, and what we think we deserve, we have the whole season for that and it starts this weekend.
On your side personally, this is the year of Euro 2017 for the team of France who is already qualified, do you think?
I think like most French players, we always want to be in selection and make great competitions. After that, it's always in a corner of your head, but it's not a priority goal, it's a personal goal. I think first of all to have a good season with my club and help Juvisy if I can win what he deserves and then if there are positive things that have to happen for me, I think that will come. We have what we deserve ...
