At the end of the match against Montpellier, where she made a good performance, we were able to talk with Kadeisha Buchanan. A Canadian defender and international, he was one of Olympique Lyonnais' winter recruits and Gérard Prêcheur is already praising them.
" Certainly yes. Montpellier is a good team, they beat very good opponents and to come here and achieve this victory is huge for the ranking.
How is life in Lyon?
"I love Lyon, I love living in the city. It's very nice, I can go for a walk and there are great people. No problems yet, which is a good thing (laughs). The team is amazing, full of different personalities which is great. In a team, that's what we need, personalities of different personalities bring different things and it is felt on the ground where each player brings a personal contribution to the game.

On the other side of the Atlantic, you are considered one of the best players on the Canadian team. We are also talking about you as the best player in the university championship in recent years. In Lyon, getting a place is not easy. This is a new challenge for you?
Certainly yes. That's one of the reasons I went abroad to challenge myself, especially on the technical side. I am aware of my tactical, physical but technical skills, I know that I am improving and I hope to improve even more so it comes little by little.
I'm progressing, I'm not going to say that I'm at the top of my game. I am with players who are from here and have always played this way. I just arrived from America, the United States, Canada, where [the game] is less technical. I learn every day and try to do my best. We'll see where that leads me.
When you listen to what your team mates say in selection, your coaches, we hear a lot of compliments, a lot of promises too. Is it sometimes difficult to assume all this?
It's certain. Sometimes, if you let those things get into your brain instead of going out on the field and playing your game ... Your game is what makes people recognize you and not the fact that your name is Kadeisha Buchanan. You can not put yourself on a pedestal, because you can not be at your best. You have to be level, and focused on what you do and what the team needs.
On Wednesday, you will play the Algarve Cup, a competition you won last year with Canada. How do you see the upcoming tournament?
It's a better edition, with better teams. There will be Japan, Sweden, Australia, Norway. With some of my teammates [from Lyon], I think we'll be in the same plane (laughs) so it's cool to be able to talk about it. It's a big competition. I'm excited about the team [Canada], it's been since the Olympics that I could not play a match in the selection so I'm very impatient.
