It is said that "the important thing is not the destination, but the trip itself", for Laurie Leguevaque, the important thing is to go with a football. And Toulouse was not content with a single destination, since she decided to go around the world with her boyfriend and a balloon. It was discovered through the video of his adventure in the four corners of the world and so we went to ask him some questions about it. Interview.
Violette in the soul Laurie knew the D1, the descent in D2, the rise in D1, then she decided to take a break of 2 years to go around the world.
Breathtaking landscapes, diverse cultures and backgrounds, historical monuments such as the Great Wall of China, opera in Australia, New Zealand beaches between a surf session from Easter Island in the mountains from Chile, the salt desert of Bolivia, in front of the ruins of Machu Picchu ... In a video, Laurie Leguevaque made us travel to distant places, which few had the chance to visit. Before finishing his journey around the world in the stadium of Toulouse FC.
And because it could not stay too far away from the field, since this October, the Toulouse is back to defend the colors of the TFC Division of Honor.
Football Hearts - Can you introduce yourself briefly? What is your background ?
Laurie Leguevaque - It's been almost 24 years since I was born in Toulouse, where I grew up, studied and started football. Passionate about sport, I discovered the ball at the age of 10 and since then he has followed me wherever I go! In parallel with the TFC, I finished my studies in Toulouse, with a license in business and event tourism.
Freshly returned from this World Tour, I am currently a waitress "Au Canard sur le Toit" in Colomiers and in the process of landing (laughs).
Football Hearts - How did you get that idea of taking a ball and going around the world with your boyfriend?
L.L. - Going around the world was a little girl's dream, I wanted to see if the earth was round and how it was elsewhere. It was at the end of a work contract that I said to myself "and why not now !? ". After some thoughts and my darling thoroughly behind me, we embarked on this crazy adventure! Football being my passion and one of the most practiced sports in the world, it was unthinkable to leave without a ball. I wanted to play wherever I went, meet and share around a game or a few juggles. And what a beautiful idea! That's exactly what we lived!
I do not hide a balloon that takes space and it took me good arguments to convince my boyfriend, in exchange he had his fishing rod (laughs). For the little anecdote it is not a single balloon that accompanied us, but in the end 5 different balloons, 5 episodes between loss, donation, rice etc ... and each story has its touch of madness!
Soccer Hearts - You were a former footballer, who is more of D1. Why did you stop your career? Can you resume?
L.L. - Following my degree I had a professional opportunity that took me away from Toulouse and prevented me from continuing the practice at a high level. I made a choice that was not easy, but I do not regret.
After almost four seasons away from the field, and this wonderful trainer trip I thought I was not too old or too "fucking" and that if I wanted to feast it was now, I have therefore taken over the TFC since October (in DH).
Football Hearts - Toulouse is a historic club of women's football, but that is very little put forward. Does the club pay attention to its women's section?
L.L. - I will not get too wet by my answer since I was not there the two previous years and I just came back.
I still want to say that, as in many areas, equality and parity is a long struggle. Mores evolve and more and more "means" are put in place to develop the female structure, but there is still a long way to go ...
Hearts of Foot - The club goes down in D2 in 2013, how can you explain this situation?
L.L. - After our super season crowned by the title of champion of France of D2 we had to undergo the change of almost all of our staff. And in those moments it goes or it breaks ... The implementation was tricky and this level of games and stakes do not forgive mistakes. But that's not the only reason, the places are expensive and the difference between the top and bottom of the table played. We meet teams where the players are professional, compared to others like the players of the TFC for example, who must combine school / work with football.
Soccer Hearts - You are also the first club in history to play in the quarter finals of the Champions League. Did you know that? What does it do to you? In the future, could the club put more on its women's section to build a real project in order to return in the best conditions in D1?
L.L. - Feminist and chauvinist as I am, obviously I knew it (laugh). It is a great pride, although I do not like living in the past. But when I think about it I tell myself that they arrived there, then the TFC would be able to start again, but having the same means as the big French teams of D1.
Soccer Hearts - What do you remember from your adventure around the world?
L.L. - An incredible adventure. Hard to answer so much in a year I discovered, lived and grew up. " Travel shapes the young ". It was a mix of emotions, sensations, memories, discoveries, encounters and experiences.
What I remember: tons of memories! But especially that life is beautiful, that we are very lucky, that the world is great, that we must take care of Mother Nature, that our humanity can be so haunting and that to dream with open eyes is nice !
Soccer Hearts - What will be your best memory?
LL - We have experienced incredible and free moments, we bought motorbikes in Asia, saw elephants, played football in the four corners of the world on surprising terrains, plunged, climbs summits, exceeded 5000 meters of altitude, seen amazing landscapes, met great people and so many others. But my best memory will be the surprise of dad, mom and brother when we return to the airport. All my family had come, they were waiting for us with banners, whistles and their smiles that I had missed so much! The best memory is this surprise coming back from this trip and this chance to have a family and friends in gold!
Soccer Hearts - Did you go to Papua New Guinea? Where the blue ones played their world ... Did you follow a little, via Football hearts elsewhere?
L.L. - No Papua for this time, but I did not put the bag (laugh).
Yes I followed their fabulous course and I am very disappointed for them, but let's keep in mind the most important they are still vice-champions of the world and it's not nothing! Congratulations les Bleuettes !!!
