For the seventh day of D1, the Girondines de Bordeaux won 1-0 at FC Metz in Amnéville. A defeat that relegates a little more Messines in the last place of the ranking, despite a good collective performance on the ground.

The match already looked like a lifesaver for FC Metz, who had six defeats in as many league games and still has not managed to shake the opponents' net. The defeat against Albi at home already looked like a wild joker for the Lorraine team. Against Bordeaux, also promoted this season, the challenge was to end this early season to zero points. A period which FC Metz does not seem for the moment not see the end.

The messines promises
In the field, the impression was different from the kickoff. One wondered how the group would digest the departures of Héloise Mansuy and Juliane Gathrat, two holders of U20 World Cup. The response given by the players of David Fanzel was rather positive, with a very good start match of Metz. From the first minute, Meryll Wenger tries his luck, taking advantage of a missed clearance from Elisa Launay. Embarrassed by the state of the field, very fat, Launay slips and drops the ball towards Wenger, but without consequence because the shot far is not framed.

Three minutes later, we say that the goal is at the end of Julie Wojdyla's shoe. Served by Léa Khelifi in the box, Wojdyla failed to win his face to face with Elisa Launay, the decisive moment in the 4th minute of play. On the corner that follows, the attacking messina is again close to resume the second post the center of Khelifi but the balloon escapes him.

Beyond these first attempts, the players of FC Metz are more incisive in the first minutes, with a pressing of the offensive quartet which regularly bears fruit to the recovery of the ball. Around Julia Wojdyla, a trio composed of Léa Khelifi, Meryll Wenger and Elodie Martins, plays a pivotal role in the messine offensive animation. An association that goes with a real quality of play, passing combinations and a technical ease, far from the image of red lantern of the Lorraine team.

Metz has studied the game of Bordeaux well
This match even marks a progression in the messin game which alone lacks efficiency in front of goal. Because opposite, Bordeaux does not seem able to worry Getter Laar. Eva Sumo's first strike was easily controlled by the Dutch goalkeeper in the 10th minute. It is then Sarah Cambot who tries his luck, with a free kick to 25 meters in the axis and which passes near the post left messin (17th).

Few opportunities for Bordeaux, with blunders in the construction of the game but also a team of vigilant Metz. The players of David Fanzel who have probably watched the images of the match against Soyaux, and work on the ability of Bordeaux to project quickly forward in against or on the direct game. On this match, we could see the Metz team able to manage its phases of play, defensive transition sometimes passing by some "tactical mistakes" when the lawful means are not enough to slow down the very vertical play of Bordeaux.

Faults, Bordeaux also commits, embarrassed by the technical quality of the attacking messines. Metz has several free kicks in the last 30 meters Bordeaux without managing to really endanger Elisa Launay. In the 40th minute, Julie Wojdyla is again in the position to hit the goal in the opposing area. Less well placed than on his first opportunity, she sees Elisa Launay again block the road and make a decisive intervention.

The referee whistles the half-time and we start to fear that FC Metz has (already) missed his chance.

Elisa Launay was impassable
However, after the break the Girondines do not seem to be back with other intentions. It is always Metz that is the most dangerous and the first opportunity is for Lea Khelifi whose strike at the entrance to the surface passes to the right of the skylight (55th). Subsequently, Metz will find the frame several times but each time, will crash on Elisa Launay. The Bordeaux goalkeeper, solid on the line, and who will stop the attempts of Elodie Martins (56), Léa Khelifi (62) and Melissa Godart in the 81st minute.

In the second half, David Fanzel reloads the batteries of his offensive line by bringing out Julie Wojdyla (63) and Meryll Wenger (77) to replace Danielle Rotheram and Laura Silver respectively. Two changes with the hope of finally finding the flaw.

But the scenario proved cruelly predictable. A first free-kick from Sarah Cambot in the 78th minute found the head of one of his teammates, but the ball is not framed. The danger was yet closer to the goal messin.

A few minutes later, Juliette Loumagne tries to serve Sarah Cambot at the entrance to the surface, but the Bordeaux striker is unbalanced after contact with a messina player (85th). Elodie Coppola, the referee of the meeting does not hesitate and whistles penalty for Bordeaux. Sarah Cambot remains a long time on the ground and Maëva Salomon, entered the game a few minutes earlier (72) in place of Cindy Ferreira, who is responsible for the shoot.

Maëva Salomon dashes out and her shot on Getter Laar's left is stopped by the Metz keeper. Repelled within six meters, the ball is finally picked up by Margaux Montegut before Laar can grab it. The ball ends at the bottom of the nets (87th) and the Bordeaux players jump into the arms of Margaux Montegut, who has just appeared on the field to replace Eva Sumo.

Fates crossed for the promoted
A goal that sounds like a real deliverance for the Bordeaux players, aware of having foiled but who see the event end on a good note and the three points that go with it. Because if Metz pushed in the last moments, the urgency and a certain feeling of revolt did not bring this goal so hoped since 630 minutes. Selen Gul Altunkulak will hit the goal one more time in the game, but the ball flees Elisa Launay.

With this defeat, the season of FC Metz already seems to take a turn almost final. The next game on the lawn of Lyon should not reverse the trend. However, all those who have seen this team evolve this season know that hope, as small as it is, is still allowed for maintenance.

On the side of Bordeaux, this victory in pain has partially erase the disappointment after the match lost against Soyaux last week. A success that they could celebrate with the dozen supporters of the Girondin-e-s who made the trip and ensured the atmosphere in the stadium of Amnéville. This also confirms Bordeaux's ability to adapt to the level of the D1, although, of course, the path is still long ...
