Privileged witnesses of the Girondines season, the MBIDF have followed almost all trips outside the Bordeaux players. Behind the acronym are the Marine & Blanc - Île-de-France, a group of supporters of the Girondins and for two years following the adventures of the Bordeaux players.
The MBIDF are an association, created in 2003, at a time when the Girondins de Bordeaux were a male only club. The group initially organized events around television broadcasts of Bordeaux matches, before being able to ensure travel throughout France and even across borders during European competitions.
An association that today has a little more than 200 members, mainly in the Paris region. It also has a football team that participates in a championship of supporters in the Paris region where there are groups of supporters of French clubs but also Liverpool, which also has fans on this side of the Channel.
Meeting on the grounds of D2
The meeting of the MBIDF with the women's team of Bordeaux was done last year while the Girondins had absorbed ES Blanquefort become at that moment the women's section of the club. The team then played in D2 in Group B, a pool where Bordeaux inter alia the road of two Ile-de-France teams, FF Issy and Tremblay. These matches will be an opportunity for the MBIDF to meet the players and see them evolve in the field.
And when the fans land on the edges of the lawn, with their megaphones, the drums, it does not go unnoticed. A lot of noise, a group of fans mainly made up of boys, something to scare Bordeaux players who are not necessarily used to such a craze around their matches, especially outside. Meetings that are played quietly, there are also in D1, and the MBIDF sometimes gave the impression that Bordeaux played at home, even at the other end of the country.
It finally took a season for a complicity to be established between the fans and their champions, especially during the match of the climb to Saint-Malo in May 2016 where the MBIDF celebrated the accession in D1 alongside the Girondines. A proximity now visible between the players and the Navy & White who regularly have the opportunity to interact with the team on the sidelines of the matches they come to attend.
For the last meeting of the season in Charlety against PSG, they were very present even if this time, it is the Paris supporters of Collectif Ultras Paris (CUP) who made the most noise. Coming a few dozen, the Bordeaux fans were still visible to the players who greeted them before and after the match. A match tackled without illusions by the members of the MBIDF that we met before this decisive meeting. Among them, Aymeric who deals with social networks for the association, and who feared to see a descent conclude this first season in D1.
A season with emotions
The small "miracle" finally took place and they had the opportunity to congratulate their heroines of the day at the end of the match but also in the hall of the station Montparnasse where the players had to rush to take their train, waiting for to be able to meet again. A maintenance in D1 that is similar to Aymeric "real sporting achievement" even if it will avoid "scare" for the next seasons.
This year in D1, one of their most memorable memories is told by Anthony, who talks about the first victory of the Girondines in D1 on the lawn of Albi in October 2016. Three points they went to get thanks to a goal from Sarah Cambot. A ball recovered in Albigensian feet followed by a lob over Cindy Perrault, an action that was remembered several months later.
This team of Girondines, the Marine & White have attached themselves to it and they hope today that the "hard core" of the group will be preserved and "reinforced" for the future. A team for the moment inherited from the work done at Blanquefort, composed mainly of players from the region, and who therefore embody in their own way the Girondins. Building around the existing, a way for the MBIDF to see the team grow while preserving the spirit that has made its strength so far.
These choices are likely to be discussed in the coming weeks around recruitment and the ambitions of Bordeaux for next season. A reflection that could be illuminated by the example of Olympique Marseille, fourth this season after being promoted last year with the Girondines. A recipe in which the club Bordeaux could be tempted to go digging.
