English international striker Karen Carney has been the target of unspeakable insults on Instagram from a user.

The incident came on Wednesday in the 1 / 8th first leg of the Champions League between Chelsea FC and Fiorentina (1-0). Karen Carney gave the Chelsea Blues a victory on a penalty (8th), after a hand of Stephanie Breitner in her box.

This was obviously not enough to calm the user who hides under the pseudonym of dzo09. The latter sent the player obscene insults and death threats.

"How many opportunities do you need to score in stupid second half *****", "I wish you to catch cancer and leukemia", "I hope you're raped to death "

Phil Neville goes to the crease to defend his player
Faced with this torrent of filth, Karen Carney reacted towards 1am on Instagram with a terse: "Wow people like that ...". Phil Neville, his team coach from England who also saw these insults, was much more vehement. He has indeed posted on the social network a capture of messages with the following legend:

"A message sent to one of my players last night, absolutely scandalous - @instagram, do you plan to do anything about that?"

It's unclear for the moment whether Instagram has taken action regarding the author of offensive messages. Still, the English Federation has expressed support for Karen Carney.
